Analytics

The Analytics tab enables Genesis’s built-in web analytics so you can see how many people visit your published site and what they do — scroll depth, traffic breakdown and Web Vitals — without wiring up a third-party tool. The full numbers, heatmaps and recordings open in Insights.

Analytics is a monthly subscription on the project owner’s account, so only the owner sees the plan buttons. Other members see the same data and a note saying who can change the plan.

Once it’s on, the Web Analytics card shows:

  • Plan — the tier and how many visitors a month it covers
  • Monthly price, or Free
  • Status, when it isn’t simply active — Payment pending, Visitor cap reached, Paused, or Cancels at period end

Below the card, a snapshot shows the last 7 days, with a link to Insights for the rest. Data appears only after you publish — it comes from real visitors on the published site.

  • Enable — opens the plan picker: pick a Visitor tier (Free or a paid tier), or Custom and drag the Visitors slider to the monthly traffic you expect (100 to 1,000,000). On a paid tier you can tick Include session replay, then pay with a saved card or a new one. Free needs no card.
  • Change plan — upgrade or downgrade in the same picker.
  • Complete payment — shown while a payment is still pending.
  • Cancel — ends a paid plan. Turn off — stops the free plan. Collected history is kept.

If you downgrade to Free, the card says “Downgrading to Free on {date} — tracker stays on until then”, so you keep your current plan until the period ends.

Session replay records visits so you can watch the cursor and scroll path of real visitors — where they click, scroll and drop off. Recordings open in Session replays.

  • It’s a paid add-on that needs web analytics to be on first, and it’s billed as a line on your analytics subscription.
  • The card shows an estimated monthly cost at your visitor volume; the final price is set in the plan picker.
  • Enable / Disable turn it on or off. Like the plan, only the owner can change it.

What the tracker collects depends on the visitor’s cookie choice:

  • Accepted analytics cookies — counted, and recorded when session replay is on.
  • Rejected, or hasn’t chosen yet on a banner the tracker can read — not counted and not recorded. It reads the Cookie Consent banner, Google Consent Mode, Cookiebot, CookieYes, Complianz and OneTrust.
  • No consent signal on the site at all — counted without cookies, and not recorded.

To get session recordings, turn on Cookie Consent and add its banner, or have your own banner send Google Consent Mode. More in What cookie consent changes.
