Profile and security

Your profile is how you appear across Genesis — to collaborators on a shared project, in the header and in the profile menu. Security is how you sign in: the email, the password, and an optional second step.

Both are in your account settings: Settings → Profile and Settings → Security. They apply to your whole ESTAGE account, so a change here shows everywhere you sign in with it.

  1. Open Settings → Profile.
  2. To change the photo, select the round avatar and choose an image. Use a square JPG, PNG or GIF of up to 5 MB.
  3. Edit First name and Last name.
  4. Select Save profile. The footer reads “All changes saved.” once nothing is pending.

A new photo isn’t stored until you save. Remove photo takes an already saved photo off right away, and your initials show in its place.

  1. Open Settings → Security.
  2. Next to Sign-in email, select Change.
  3. Enter the address in New email and again in Confirm new email.
  4. Enter your Current password.
  5. Select Update email.
  6. Open the confirmation email sent to the new address and select its link.

The new address takes effect only once you’ve confirmed it, and the link expires after an hour; until then you keep signing in with the old one. ESTAGE also sends a notice to your current address that a change was requested. The new address must not already belong to another ESTAGE account, and it must differ from your current one.

  1. Open Settings → Security.
  2. Under Change password, enter your Current password.
  3. Enter the new password in New password and Confirm new password. It needs at least 8 characters.
  4. Select Update password. The form confirms “Password updated. Other devices signed in to your account were signed out.”

You stay signed in on the device you’re using, and every other device is signed out. ESTAGE emails you a notice that your password was changed.

If you enter the wrong current password several times, you have to wait a while before you can try again.

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in: after your password, ESTAGE asks for a one-time code. There are two methods, and you can use either or both.

MethodWhere the code comes from
Authenticator appGoogle Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or any other TOTP app
Email codeA one-time code sent to your sign-in email
  1. Open Settings → Security.
  2. On the method you want, select Enable. You’re taken to the ESTAGE sign-in service to finish the setup.
  3. Back in Genesis, the method shows Enabled.

To turn a method off, select Disable on it; the same sign-in service asks you to confirm.

  • Your sign-in email is not a mailbox. Changing it doesn’t touch any ESTAGE Mail mailbox, which has its own address and password.
  • Email code depends on your sign-in email. If you change the email, the codes go to the new address.
