What published sites do for search engines automatically

Section titled “What published sites do for search engines automatically”

You don’t configure any of this — it ships with every publish:

  • A crawlable favicon, so your icon shows next to your result in Google.
  • Fully pre-rendered pages on your own domain — crawlers get complete HTML rather than a page they’d have to run JavaScript to read.
  • No competing mirror. Your …genesis.estage.com address no longer competes with your custom domain in search results, so the ranking goes to your brand.

The Pages section lists the routes Genesis discovered in your site. For each page you can:

  • Mark it Listed or Hidden.
  • Override the Title (up to 90 characters).
  • Override the Description (up to 200 characters) — used for both search results and social.
  • Set a Social image (URL or pick from your Media Library).
  • Choose a Robots rule: Default, No index, follow, No index, no follow, or None.
