Webmail

Webmail is where the people using a mailbox on your domain read and send their mail, in any current Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. The mailbox’s user signs in with the mailbox address and password — they don’t need an ESTAGE account of their own.

Open it at genesis.estage.com/mail. If you’re signed in to Genesis, Email Box in the top bar opens it in a new tab, and the ESTAGE Mail card in the Welcome Hub and the desktop app open the same page.

  1. Go to genesis.estage.com/mail.
  2. Enter the Email address and Password the domain owner gave you.
  3. Optionally, name This device — for example Chrome on macOS — so you recognize the sign-in later under Settings → Devices.

Forgot the password? Choose Reset it with your recovery key on the sign-in page, or ask the domain owner — see Forgot the password?.

Several mailboxes in one browser. Select your name at the top left, then Add another mailbox. You stay signed in to the first one and switch between them from the same menu. Sign out of this mailbox signs out only the one you’re in.

Every mailbox has Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Archive, Junk and Trash. Mail that looks like spam goes to Junk on arrival.

  • New folder at the bottom of the folder list adds your own. Its Folder options menu has Rename, Mark all as read and Delete folder.
  • A folder can only be deleted when it’s empty. Move or delete its conversations first.
  • Trash keeps conversations for 30 days, then deletes them for good.
  • The bottom of the list shows how much of the mailbox’s storage you use. When it’s almost full, new mail may bounce — empty Trash or delete large attachments.

Mail is grouped into conversations. Open one to read it; the buttons above it are Archive, Move to Trash, Mark as spam, Move to folder and Flag. More has Mark as unread, Reply all and Forward.

  • Images from the web are hidden until you choose Show images, so a sender can’t tell when you opened their message.
  • Select several conversations with ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows), x, or the Select all box above the list, then use the actions above the list. You can select up to 200 at once.
  • ESTAGE asks before each change. After archiving, moving or trashing, Undo appears for a few seconds.
  • Deleting from Trash or Junk is permanent. The dialog says Delete forever, and there is no undo. A deleted draft doesn’t go to Trash either.

Select New message, or Reply, Reply all or Forward on a message.

  • From lets you send as the mailbox or as one of its aliases.
  • To suggests people as you type. Cc and Bcc open their own fields.
  • Formatting: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, links, bulleted and numbered lists, quotes, and Remove formatting.
  • Attachments: select the paperclip (Attach a file), or drop files anywhere on the page. Dropped files go into the message you’re writing; otherwise into a reply to the open conversation, or a new message. A file can be up to 25 MB, and a message’s attachments together up to 35 MB.
  • Drafts save themselves as you type. Closing the window keeps the draft in Drafts; the trash icon (Discard draft) deletes it.
  • Send with the button or ⌘↵ (Ctrl+Enter on Windows).

When every recipient also has a mailbox on ESTAGE, the window shows End-to-end encrypted: only the recipients can read the message.

After you select Send, the message waits a few seconds and a Sending… notice with Undo appears. Undo brings the message back to the compose window, unsent. The wait is 10 seconds unless you change it in Settings → General.

Type in Search mail (or press /). It finds conversations by subject, preview text, names and addresses, across all folders. Narrow the results with:

  • All folders — pick one folder instead.
  • Has attachment.
  • Last 30 days.

Press ? anywhere outside a text field to see the full list, or open Keyboard shortcuts at the bottom of the folder list. Shortcuts don’t work while you type in a field, and you can turn them off for a browser in Settings → General.

TabWhat’s there
GeneralUndo send — Off, 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. Signature on replies and forwards — when off, the signature goes only on new messages. Keyboard shortcuts — on or off for this browser.
PrivacyApp passwords for Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail and other mail apps — see Use it in Apple Mail, Outlook or Gmail.
NotificationsNotifications in this browser for new mail in Inbox (Junk never notifies), with Show sender and subject, Sound and Delivery failures. Send a test notification checks that they arrive.
SignatureA formatted signature, one per address when the mailbox has aliases. You can remove it from a single message in the compose window.
Auto-replyAn away message — see below.
PasswordChange the mailbox password. It must be at least 10 characters. Every other device is signed out and every app password is revoked.
DevicesEverywhere the mailbox is signed in. Sign out one, or Sign out everywhere else.

General and Signature settings follow you to every device you sign in on.

  1. Open Settings → Auto-reply and turn on Auto-reply.
  2. Optionally, set a First day and Last day. Without them it runs until you turn it off.
  3. Optionally, set a Subject. Write the Message, then select Save.

While it’s on, a banner at the top says so, with Edit and Turn off. Each person gets your reply once every 4 days. Spam, mailing lists and no-reply addresses never get it.

  • Your mail is encrypted with keys only the mailbox holds — see Your mail stays private. The auto-reply text is the exception: ESTAGE’s server sends it for you, so it can read that text.
  • Offline, the page keeps working with what it has already loaded. Changes are kept and sync when you’re back online.
  • If sending is paused by the domain owner, a banner says so. You can still read and organize mail; only the owner can resume sending.
  • On a phone, the same address works in the browser and shows one screen at a time.
